Week 14 Injury Report: New York Giants Vs. Miami Dolphins

The main focus for Monday night’s Prime Time tilt between the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants will be on best friends and former college teammates and roommates, Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr. Monday night will mark the first time in their young yet extremely impressive careers that Landry and OBJ will face each other on the grid iron, and it’s going to be a show worth watching!

Hidden in the background of all the “Juice vs. OBJ” noise are the key injuries to both teams that are going to have an effect on not only the outcome of the game, but on the head to head battle between these two stars as well. As the two teams face off Monday night, the official Injury Reports didn’t come out until yesterday (Thursday), so we’re going to have to take a more “wait and see” approach the rest of the week to see how the players listed fair.

It’s no surprise the Miami Dolphins are banged up, and it seems as though every week there’s a new injury to report about. From Ja’Wuan James to Cameron Wake to Rishard Matthews, from defense to offense, no one is safe from the injury bug. Fortunately though, after last week’s game versus the Baltimore Ravens, the Dolphin’s seemed to make it through relatively unscathed. Hopefully this is a trend in the right direction, and the Dolphins only get healthier from here on out.

For the Giants, only four payers are mentioned on this week’s injury Report, with highly touted second year Linebacker Devon Kennard headlining the report.  Kennard was seen walking around in a boot Wednesday, hasn’t practiced this week, and is in serious jeopardy of missing his second straight game and fourth overall for the season. Giant’s Safety Brandon Meriweather (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, and is also in jeopardy of missing his second straight game. Kennard is second on the Giant’s in tackles per game (6.4), and Meriweather is fourth on the team in that regard (4.8), so clearly the Giant’s have some big shoes to fill if they can’t suit up, especially against a Miami team that is set on pounding the ball.

As much as everyone will be focused on Landry vs. OBJ Monday night in South Beach, it will be important to keep an eye on who’s available to suit up for each team, and what affect they’ll have on the game. Which players are out due to injuries will not only have an impact on the performances of Landry and OBJ, but it will obviously have a significant impact on the outcome of the game as well.
